Tick-tock
Let the quartz fall
Let the sky light up with its fire
Jumping
Jumping Jack Flash
Our fathers have cause to retire
Running
It’s far too late now
If we fall out then I’m sorry
Knuckles
Are white-clenched like heat
Which rises and smothers in glory
Listen
To the theorising
How pleasant were those words that he spoke?
Gentle
They seemed in the crowd
Though they’re quick to the fires they stoke
Glisten
We radiate
So we will ’til the end of the world
Stewards
We were for a time
Now our atomic greed is all told
Brazen
And foolish you say
Playing God was a bloody good laugh!
Blackened
By time, greed and rage
Our homeland has had quite enough
Holding
Hands in the shade
Of a million fireflies racing
Upwards
Into the sky
And on-rushing; it’s hell we’re facing.
